As the name suggests, Bruce Hughes is the ‘hands on’ driving force behind Bruce’s Biltong.
Bruce is a 55yr old Bulawayo Hotel School (1985-1988) trained Food & Beverage Manager and self-taught chef with a passion for all things meat and BBQ.
Bruce literally teethed on biltong as a baby (stick of biltong on string tied around his neck!) He started making his own biltong in Zimbabwe around 1996 with a mix of guidance from his local butcher (Trevor Beckett of Midlands Butchery fame in Gweru) and a good deal of experimentation with marinades and spice mixes of his own.
Trial and error, and meticulous attention to detail, enabled Bruce to produce the type of Biltong that friends and family just could not get enough of, so Bruce turned his attention to producing his quality biltong on a larger scale and finally offering his fantastic biltong to the public with Bruce’s Biltong!
